What is FUMA ?

FUMA: is a 501 (C) 3 charitable non-profit organization founded in 1981, specializing in providing proactive educational anti-crime programs for communities across the United States. Our programs are designed to meet the needs of citizens of all ages, shapes and sizes, and make their community a safe place to live; especially those citizens who have physical disabilities. As a last resort, we provide a realistic and practical “hands on” Self Defense program providing citizens with the necessary skills to avoid, and defend oneself in a dangerous situation. We also provide Physical Fitness programs for senior citizens and assist them in improving the 4 pillars of life: Emotional, Physical, Spiritual, and Mental health. Our fitness programs are designed to improve circulation, concentration, strength, and balance to decrease their chances of injuries due to falls. We also assist them in developing relaxation, breathing, and fitness exercises to reduce stress. Most of all, we assist them in maintaining their dignity, and walk to with confidence.

FUMA conducts workshops for our young people in the community about “peer pressure,” and the dangers of Gang Violence, Drugs, and Teen Sex. We also conduct workshops for children who are victims of “Bullying.”

We provide education for the parents and school systems to maintain an atmosphere of intolerance for destructive behavior at home, classrooms, hallways, bathrooms, locker rooms, and playgrounds. We assist teachers and support staff in providing the necessary training tools to recognize the aggressors and warning signs of behavior changes in bullying victims. We also provide support to the victims of Domestic Violence and Child Abuse, assisting them in restoring their dignity and self-respect. FUMA provides Self Protective and Anti-Crime seminars for the following community organizations:
Police & Fire Safety Officials; Private & Corporate Security; Boys & Girls Scouts; Church Organizations, Elementary & High Schools; Colleges; Women’s Groups, Martial Arts Dojo’s; and the Military.

What happens to my membership dues and public donations?

FUMA is a 501 (C) 3 charitable non-profit organization that relies solely on public support and funding. It takes funding to provide educational proactive community programs on crime prevention. Although FUMA is a charitable organization, there are operating expenses. Your annual membership and public donations help with offset those expenses. FUMA’s charitable non-profit status is monitored by the Internal Revenue Service and held accountable for the misuse of funds. If there is any misrepresentation by FUMA, the IRS will audit the organization as a whole and audit each member of the FUMA Board of Directors. FUMA must submit financial records annually to the IRS.
